Why this is unusual

Mold remediation is unlicensed in most of the United States. A homeowner comparing companies has no register to consult, no minimum training standard to point at, and no way to distinguish a long-standing operation from someone who bought a dehumidifier last month.

Louisiana is one of the exceptions. The Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors treats mold remediation as its own trade classification with its own requirements. That does not make every holder excellent — twenty-four hours of training is a floor, not a summit — but it moves the decision from marketing to evidence, and that is a meaningful improvement.

5. Check the licence is current rather than lapsed.

The phrase worth pausing on is preventative measures. Addressing what caused the moisture is inside the licensed scope, not an optional extra to be quoted separately.
